Instrumentation Service
High-Temperature Measurement Service Using an Ultrasonic SensorIt is now possible to monitor the reduction of plate thickness due to corrosion or erosion, crack propagation and flow velocity at high temperature by using recently developed sensors and coupling medium for high-temperature application. Continuous on-line thickness monitoring is possible with high accuracy on a micrometer order by using IIC's high-accuracy ultrasonic sensor, which was developed by the Research and Productivity Council (RPC) in Canada. This device is now being used in Canadian deuterium uranium reactors at temperatures around 300°C. A high-accuracy flow meter fabricated by RPC can monitor flow velocities accurately
to within 1%. Sensor featuresIt can be used continuously over long periods of time at
500°C.
