Material Testing
Damage Inspection and Countermeasure Proposals
The cause of damage can be made clear through a detailed inspection
of damaged parts. If the cause is not identified, the same problem may occur
again. IIC provides inspection services for damaged machines and parts, proposes
effective countermeasures and gives suitable advice for avoiding future problems.

Methods of damage investigation
- Surface observation: Condition of damage, starting point of crack growth,
measurement of deformation, observation of corrosion.
- Observation of fracture surface: Observation of fracture surface using a
scanning electron microscope (SEM) to clarify damage features.
- Microscopic and macroscopic observation: Observation of metallurgical structure
to clarify problems related to damage.
- Materials examination: Chemical analysis to confirm suitable material selection.
- Mechanical testing: Mechanical testing of component materials to confirm
strength levels.
- Microscopic observation of welds: Observation of weld defects and poor welds.
